# Hashigo > Hashigo (梯子, "ladder") is a free daily number puzzle game for iPhone, made by Pete Trainor in London. Players, called Climbers, drop number cards onto four ladders; each card must beat the card on top of the ladder it lands on, and four cards clear a ladder. There is one shared Daily deck a day, like Wordle, and an Endless mode. Hashigo is on the App Store for iPhone. It is free, with no ads and nothing that follows you around the web. Android is coming, with no date yet; the home page takes an email address for a one-off note when it lands. ## How to play - You are dealt one card at a time, numbered 1 to 20. - Drop it on one of four ladders. It must be higher than the card on top of that ladder; an empty ladder takes anything. - Four cards fill a ladder and clear it, scoring points. Tighter runs score more. Four consecutive numbers (for example 7, 8, 9, 10) is a "perfect" and scores double. - Burns throw away a card you can't use. You start with five, and earn one back every four clears and on every perfect. - Clearing every ladder at once is a "sweep", worth a bonus. - Cards start low (1 to 12) and climb towards 6 to 20 as the run goes on, shown by the Card Range bar. - Wild cards appear later in a run. A wild becomes one higher than the card beneath it; played on a 20 it becomes the joker, a 21, which can rescue a ladder. - The run ends when the dealt card has nowhere to go and there are no burns left. - The multiplier rises every three clears, and chaining clears within six cards multiplies it further. ## Modes - **Daily**: one deck a day, identical for every Climber, resetting at local midnight. One go only: no restarts and no second tries. Scores go on a worldwide leaderboard and are verified by replaying the moves on the server. Results can be shared as a spoiler-free strip of blocks. Playing on consecutive days builds a streak. - **Endless**: a fresh random deck every run, played as often as you like, chasing a personal best. Endless can also be played free in a web browser at https://hashigo.ing/play, with no download and no account; that page can be added to a phone's home screen and works offline. It runs the same engine as the app. The Daily is deliberately not playable in the browser, because one shared deck a day only works if nobody can get it early. - **Crawls**: private leaderboards for the Daily. A Climber starts one, names it, and shares an invite link (hashigo.ing/c/CODE). Up to three crawls per Climber. ## The name Hashigo (梯子) is Japanese for ladder. Hashigo-zake (はしご酒), literally a "liquor ladder", is the everyday Japanese term for a pub crawl. はしごを外す, "to remove the ladder", means to encourage someone up and then take away their support. ## Links - [Hashigo home page](https://hashigo.ing/): what the game is, how it plays, and the FAQ - [Play Endless in a browser](https://hashigo.ing/play): the free web version, no download or account - [Get Hashigo](https://hashigo.ing/get): install on iPhone from the App Store - [Releases and updates](https://hashigo.ing/releases): what changed in each release - [Privacy](https://hashigo.ing/privacy): what the app collects and why - Contact: help@hashigo.ing
